This shoot started as a portfolio building session but not just to fill space with images. I wanted to push atmosphere, light, and styling in a studio environment that let me experiment. That meant combining rich blacks, LED tubes, and haze to create something bold, modern, and editorial.

My goal was to show what is possible when someone steps into a space like this, dresses for confidence, and lets the camera do the storytelling.

Why I Chose FD Studio Hill

FD Studio’s Hill location in Downtown LA has a blackout room that gives you full control of the lighting. No guessing. No fighting daylight. Just a clean dark canvas where every light you add becomes intentional.

Playing with Light, Haze, and Mood

I used a mix of LED tube lights and spot lighting layered with haze to bring texture into the shadows. These were not random effects. They were used to shape depth around the subject and turn still frames into something cinematic.

The black leather outfit helped anchor the look. Paired with a subtle color shift in the lighting from warm reds to cool blues, it kept the energy sharp without looking overproduced. There is a fine line between clean and clinical, and I did not want to cross it.
